SM Supermalls and Comelec team up for voter registration

SM Supermalls and the Electoral Commission (COMELEC) have officially teamed up to offer voters more places to register at SM. After signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the election of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) on July 19 at the Event Center in SM City Manila, COMELEC has opened satellite registration centers in SM Supermalls nationwide.

The launch of “VOTER REGISTRATION PROGRAM FOR BRGY & SK ELECTION & VOTER EDUCATION” urges eligible voters to register for the December 5 elections in Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan.

This is intended to facilitate and alleviate voter registration traffic in barangays, providing a more convenient, faster and safer way for the public to exercise their right to vote.

The “BRGY & SK ELECTION AND VOTER EDUCATION VOTER REGISTRATION PROGRAM” has been assured to be supported by the 76 SM Supermalls by providing an accessible and efficient registration experience and a comfortable venue for the education of new registrants and the currently active electorate. Local Comelec offices would oversee the conduct of protests at SM shopping malls, Comelec’s sole partner in the VOTER REGISTRATION initiative.

The SM Supermalls participating in this activity will hold their voter registration from July 17 to 24 and voter education from August 1 to November 30.
