Hundreds of children converged on the grounds of Osun State Government Headquarters in Osogbo on Thursday to celebrate the end of 2021 with Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and his wife Ms. Kafayat Oyetola.
Governor Oyetola at the event instructed mothers to create enough time despite the challenges of economic survival to see what their children are doing, adding that the future in terms of peace and success is based on the amount of the investment in their children.
Also speaking, Ms. Oyetola tasked mothers in particular with instructing their children to become good citizens with high civic responsibility.
According to her, mothers should collaborate in the fight against child abuse, violence against children, trafficking and female genital mutilation / cutting, rape and other forms of violence against people.
She urged them to take a special and deliberate interest in what is happening in their children’s schools, adding that their expression of interest would help nip growing cases of sexual harassment and assault against girls in the bud. .
While appreciating the women of the state for their support to her husband, Ms. Oyetola expressed her determination to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the law on the prohibition of violence against persons (VAPP law ) recently adopted is effectively implemented.
She urged the children to keep improving their education as the future belongs to those who are educated, adding that the current administration has worked very hard to properly prepare them for the challenges.
