If Chelsea are to sign Erling Haaland this summer, they’ll have to spit and then some.

It is widely reported that a tantalizing fee of £ 150million is what will keep the Norwegian hotshot away from Borussia Dortmund during this transfer window.

Haaland is the most requested player in Europe after an exceptional 18 months in Germany, which saw the Norwegian net 57 goals in 59 games for Borussia Dortmund

The Blues are one of the few clubs that can spend so much money on a single player, but even by their standards that would be overkill.

If they paid the asking price declared by Dortmund it would crush their record fees for a player, in fact, it would more than double.

Kai Havertz (signed last summer) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (signed in summer 2018), are tied for being the club’s record signings from Stamford Bridge, with Transfermarkt claiming to have paid £ 72million for their respective signings.

Below you can see Chelsea’s top ten signings if they close the deal for Haaland.

Chelsea signings record

* Including if they sign Erling Haaland

  1. Erling Haaland (summer 2021) £ 150million
  2. Kai Havertz (summer 2020) £ 72million
  3. Kepa Arrizabalaga (summer 2018) £ 72million
  4. Alvaro Morata (summer 2017) £ 59.4m
  5. Christian Pulisic (Winter 2019) £ 57.6million
  6. Fernando Torres (Winter 2011) £ 52.65million
  7. Jorginho (summer 2018) £ 51.3million
  8. Timo Werner (summer 2020) £ 47.7million
  9. Ben Chilwell (Summer 2020) £ 45.18million
  10. Mateo Kovacic (summer 2019) £ 40.5million

Not cheap at all. It is perhaps not surprising that reports have been published. Chelsea will be looking for Robert Lewandowski instead.

The sun says the Blues will be ready to pay £ 50million for the services of the Bayern Munich striker.

Lewandowski, 32, is arguably in the shape of a life after breaking Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals in a Bundesliga season.

His contract at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2023.
