The Federal Revenue Authority (FTA) has announced that it will stop using the eDirham system for paying taxes effective today, October 30, 2022, replacing it with Magnati, the smart payment option of First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).
Magnati provides advanced software solutions for online payments, using advanced next-generation technologies to provide seamless and efficient payment service to FTA customers.
The AFC explained that Magnati’s Smart Payments feature allows registrants to pay their tax obligations through FAB’s Magnati platform, in addition to allowing taxpayers to settle any payments due to the AFC using credit card.
The Authority indicated that this measure is in line with the decision of the Ministry of Finance to end the use of the eDirham system for government payments and to transfer the payment of fees to government entities for their services using the various other options. payment methods allowed in the UAE. The decision was made in response to customer suggestions and takes into account their needs with the aim of providing them with an easy-to-use, flexible and efficient payment experience.
The Authority explained that the electronic tax payment platform available through the e-Services portal on the FTA website offers various other payment options to its customers, while maintaining the highest levels of security. , ease of use and speed.
One such option, AFC noted, is payment using the Generated International Bank Account Number (GIBAN), which is issued by the AFC to each tax filer and allows taxpayers to send direct transfers from their bank accounts to the Authority. The system is used to transfer funds from various financial institutions in the UAE and abroad, and can be used to pay value added tax (VAT), excise tax and any other tax liability.
