MACEDONIA – A tax increase financing deal with Macedonia Empire LLC was approved on September 9 by city council, while two other TIF deals with Peak Nano and Ohio State Waterproofing passed second reading.
Approval of the second two TIF agreements cannot take place until the Nordonia Hills School Board has been notified, as some of the TIF payments are shared with the school district.
Macedonia Empire LLC plans to redevelop the former 22-acre Bedford anodizing site on Empire Parkway. Peak Nano opened an optical foundry in July on Roll and Hold Parkway, and Ohio State Waterproofing is erecting a building next to the existing one on East Highland Road.
The ordinances state that the improvements to the plots are for the public good and allow the city to use service payments from businesses – instead of paying property taxes – to finance debt issued to pay for land improvement projects. roads.
The city received nearly $ 1.5 million through a cooperative effort between the city, the Summit County Land Bank, the county tax office, and state and federal regulators to redevelop the Bedford Anodizing property.

Mayor Nick Molnar has been authorized to enter into an amendment to the rental agreement with BizPro Golf Ltd. to operate the Windmill Golf Center on East Aurora Road opposite the Macedonian Family Leisure Center.
BizPro will continue to operate the facilities until at least 2027, with possible five-year extensions in 2027, 2032 and 2037. It has been operating the facilities since 2012.
The base rent for the period April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2027 will be $ 1,000 per month, and from April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2032, it will be $ 1,500. As of April 1, 2028, the base rent will increase by 1% over the amount for the previous rental year.
