Billy Berna “Bill” Allen

Billy Berna (Bill) Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in Ascension St. John’s on August 16, 2021 at the age of 88.

Bill was born to George Monroe Allen and Lillie Allen on November 21, 1932 in Archer City, Texas. He was the 7th of 8 children and grew up in a very warm and loving family. As a young boy, his family moved to Bangs, Texas where he grew up and graduated from Bangs High School. He attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas on a scholarship. One of his many accomplishments was being part of a relay team that placed first at The Drake Relays track and field competition against competitors from much larger universities.

Bill served in the military at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and it was there that he met the love of his life, Ramona Heifner. They married on August 31, 1957 and moved to Electra, Texas. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1958, where their two children were born. Bill began his career in what was then Standard Oil of Indiana, later known as Amoco. He transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1966, where he retired after more than 35 years in the business. Bill and Ramona loved to travel and spend time with their beloved grandchildren.

Bill enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching his grandsons play sports and taking family vacations across the country. He was a scout leader who took his troop to the Philmont Scout Ranch. Bill enjoyed working on computer projects and could often be found in front of his computer helping others. But above all, he loved his family, both near and far. He made an effort to stay in touch with his extended family. His sense of humor was a trait that everyone remembers him.

Bill and his family have belonged to Memorial Baptist Church for almost 30 years, where he taught Sunday School, served as usher, and attended his Sunday School class. He later joined the South Tulsa Baptist Church, where he served as a usher and was very active in his Sunday school class, the Kingdom Builders.
